New Growthby waltomlComment by HBunch: This looks like a baby pine tree. And i think it's especially cute with the mama pine tree in the background. Great detail, great lighting. Definately depicts something new. nice shot and good luck with the challenge. |

New Growthby waltomlComment by Gracious: I like your idea here...thought about it myself. The tree trunk behind it distracts from the main subject though. A different position would give you a different perspective. Good color contrasts. |

New Growthby waltomlComment by stephan: I like the thaw (or is that resin?). Maybe you did it on purpose but I don't like how the tree in the background is almost aligned to the subject. I think it would have been better to move to another position so that the background is more uniform and less distracting. Also the lighting is not so good. The subject looks very flat. |

New Growthby waltomlComment by FranziskaLang: i think i would've tried to move in even closer towards part of that new growth. i was going to comment on moving around that shoot to get the tree out of the background, but you may have included that for comparison, so i won't. even though i personally would've preferred a more even and out of focus background. -- gr8photos (5) |

New Growthby waltomlComment by mjcecil: Good depth. Slightly overexposed, and soft on focus. Lower boundary of subject seems truncated. |

New Growthby waltomlComment by jsabbarton: Sharp image, great use of DOF and technically flawless. Nothing wrong with the picture, but the subject matter is not overly interestingâ€Â¦ |

New Growthby waltomlComment by Swashbuckler: Tom, I gave you an 8, even before knowing this was yours. I wasn't certain if at first if the droplets were water or sap, water is a great friend! The middle section of the tree's growth is a little sparce, could you fill that in with some added needles? (fluff it up a bit...) Really, how about narrowing the shot to the upper third of this branch. Or, I've always wanted to see an evergreen with red needles and green bark, make it so! Seriously, well deseved 8. Swash |
