I actually sent a PM to everyone, but posting here to explain. There were indeed many people who didn't understand the point of the image. The image is supposed to show the things people give up to own a luxury vehicle. Several people said the items along the wall were out of place, but that was the point. The dingy wall and life-junk contrast with the gleam of the Mercedes hood and the reflection of the ornament on the wall. Clearly it worked alot better in my head than for everyone here. It was well recieved by the paper here, so I don't mind the low standing :)

Creative idea, but the lighting could have been better. Maybe use a subject wearing a black sweater and then use one or more strong lamps instead of the flash?

It doesn't look like sign language so my next thought is the fingers are creating a box and the intent is to represent the idea of , 'thinking outside the box' (a very overused expression, IMO).

Doesn't work for me, mostly because outside of that idea, it is just a snap shot with very little to hold my interest.

I like the idea behind this. Unfortunately, the lighting is poor. I am guessing you used a top mount flash and didn't use and other light. Maybe next time use softer light that doesn't make such harsh glare and will allow for more detail in the shadows.
