Must have been a lot of takes. How did you get the blue background?

The initial test shot was made with water. Placed cork on wire and duct taped wire to pail for multiple takes. Filled bottle and poured over cork and of course flipped picture vertically.
Went back with colored water and dish detergent. After 30 takes, I gave up and examined the takes. The original test shot was uploaded with the water because it had the best splash and it covered the wire completely. Action captured with two side strobes bouned off white reflectors and a frontal fresnel as frontal fill.

I felt guilty because of the water and changed the name from "Pop" to "Pop, a macro ilussion", hoping that the viewer would forgive me for using plain water. I figured illusion implies an effect rather than a reality. Anyway, thank you all for your kind response, dan

Oh! That's how you did it! I dunno what a "frontal fresnel" is (having heard tha term only in association with lighthouses) but it certainly is a splendid effect.

Greetings...

This is a beautiful execution... congrats :)

I listened to a discussion once about a technique for this type of photo where the bottom of the bottle is removed... the bottle is mounted and water is poured in from the open bottom of the bottle... is this similar to a technique you may have used for this?

Or, after cutting off the bottom of the bottle, you can squirt water through the opening with a hose. Might be interesting to have a shot where the cork "pops" five or ten feet.

Well Done! Quite how this didn't get a Blue I don't know! It's the best executed and most imaginative entry by far.
