By the Seaby snackwellsComment by dsb_mac: this is pretty nice. the colors are fantastic and saturated. The exposure is great with a good natural looking fill-in flash. the subject has a wonderful relaxed content expression, an attractive triangular pose, and there's some nice ocean breeze wind swept hair action going on. The thing I'm not sure of is the composition. The main element is the big tree trunk. In itself it isn't a bad thing though I feel it's placement within the image divides it up too much. It creates a large dead space on the right. Together with the vanishing line of the fence leads the eye right out of the picture. I think it might have been improved if it were more on the left or right edge of the frame. All in all a pretty picture. Message edited by author 2005-02-01 11:25:35. |

By the Seaby snackwellsComment by drydoc: Wow! Wow! Wow! and no doubt about it. . . Wow! Very pretty. BOL 9 My only reason for hesitating on a 10 is the somewhat soft ( washed out) color of the sky. But it's stil a Wow! |

By the Seaby snackwellsComment by Skip: oh, what a fun place to be! and what i would give to be there now...
this is a great backdrop for your portrait. i think, though, the composition is off just a bit, that there is too much background behind your subject that leads the eye away from your subject, rather than to her. the lighting and colors are wonderful, as is her expression. hopefully, you'll get some other comments and suggestions, and that you won't get lost in the shuffle of this huge challenge! good luck in this and the challenges to come! |

By the Seaby snackwellsComment by dwterry: This is amazing in that it appears as just a plain old snapshot. And at the same time, it is anything but! I like the leading lines (fence, trees, shoreline and waves). The exposure is perfect in spite of a bright sun with its potential for harsh shadows. And I love the colors. My only complaint might be that her arms just disappear out of the picture... it leaves me wondering why they were cropped. But other than that, I really like this image. Good luck in the challenge! |

By the Seaby snackwellsComment by e301: Now. There's an almost cut and paste feel to this, almost like an old-time sea-seide shot where someone posed in front of a backdrop. Purely light of course - and very well handled. The style is slihgtly eastern in feel, fitting to the subject. I like it - photographially, it has a certain stance. |
