soft landingby shutterflyComment by adine: I like how unusual this looks - to see the face of a moth, usually you see the wings. I like the gradient in the background. I wonder how it would look a bit darker? The brightness matched the "soft landing" title, but it feel just too bright. |

soft landingby shutterflyComment by justine: Nice photo. I think the lighting is a bit harsh making the top of the moth appear fried..I will say the composition is very good...the shot is interesting to look at. |

soft landingby shutterflyComment by LucidLotus: I like the image, but I find the white to be too harsh considering the delicacy of the subject. It also is rather distracting in the image to me - perhaps a different color background could've made the image still pop. |

butterflyby shutterflyComment by zeuszen: This image, aptly, lacks the extreme sharpness evident in some competing entries. Instead, the apparent emphasis is on the natural light pervading all. The butterfly's white wings, especially via the shadow of one visible through the translucent other, add an unusual and incidental interest. The slight overexposure that has been allowed onto the inner side of the right wing marks the only pure-white area in the photo, precisely at point of focus.
Apart from providing a clear anchor for the eye, these effects also stimulate a latent s e r a p h i c interpretation or sense.
The inclusion of a series of blossoming plant stems extending left to right into the picture provides both an environment and compositional soundness. The background, while richly luminous, adds much to the particular aesthetic of the subject without being distracting.
A great photograph! |
