intricate featherby shutterflyComment by charmayne: hmmm...I never did enter this challenge ( so I have inspired myself to comment alot) but thought about it and this is the subject that I wanted to use, but couldnt find a peacock feather anywhere, I'm sure I'll see them everywhere now! Anyway, nicely done and of course I think the subject you chose is perfect! Maybe could have been a little larger tho. |

intricate featherby shutterflyComment by DarkRider: very pixelated, maybe it was cropped too much...and the boarder is distractracting, nice subject and suits the challenge just needs some clarity |

intricate featherby shutterflyComment by samtrundle: This looks like a great capture of a peacock feather, I just wonder whether the crop was too severe, the image is a little small on this site, and You'll probably get marked down for that |

Pixieby shutterflyComment by graphicfunk: from the critique Club:
This was a very smart concept and even the choice for b/w was also wise. The only weakness is in the execution of the halo. Since the comp is okay and the photography is okay, let me concentrate on the effect.
The way to do this is to select the figure after you have done all the levels adjustments, etc. After selection, copy the layer. Copy your background and draw an oval with 40 or 60 pixel feather. One way to finish is to fill the oval with white and then reduce the opacity to your liking. Then you paste the layer of the girl you originally copied.
In essence, you have the actual background. On top you have a copy of the background and this layer is applied with just enough opacity to accentuate the halo. On top of this you paste the girl and the halo appears to come from the back while preserving the detail of the girl. This is superior to selecting her inversing and then fading. Since she is at a distance, you do not want to fade her hair, etc.
Outside of this, I think your image is very nice because the choice of the background is good and the pose is sweet and convincing. Further, even as is, the image conveys that unique fairy tale feel. |

I Eyeby shutterflyComment by Spanish_Grease: holy mother F@&^$ER... this is superb. Where did you get the picture of the world from? Is it a globe?
This whole technique is so nice, just love all of them!
I need a print.
