Subwayby stephanComment by stephan: Chrysalis got it perfectly right. That's what I wanted to show. I thought I could increase the impact of the motion blur and the speed it represents by placing it in contrast to the wall. I think it worked.
I don't remember exactly what white balance setting I used but I remember that I set it so that the lighting is a bit warmer. The lamps produce a slightly reddish light but I liked that in this case because the yellow of the subway came out quite nicely.

Study - Where I should beby stephanComment by Harz_Joerg: I like this texture study. Pretty new "Hörsaal".
The wood as well as the seat cover are very warm.
Only the books are a little to bright in my opinion, especially the "Assembler-Buch" |

Commentary:
This is a good shot. I am impressed by this. I think however the light is just a tiny bit under lit. That is my only real problem with this. YOu set a good mood in this pic. Well done and great job.

This is a wonderful shot. For the lighting that you had to work with, I think your colors turned out Nicely. Is there any way for you to do custom white balance here. If not then disregard. It just has an unatrual Hue to the overall lighting. Other than that great shot. |

COMPOSITION(Content)-
This is a unique idea. Only one of them this week. It is very simple. It just seems a plain. You've got good detail on it being that close. Having it in the Rule of Thirds would have been nice.
BACKGROUND- All those little green dots are kind of distracting. It just gives a wierd texture feeling to the picture.
CAMERA WORK- you did good with this. Shot is in focus. and clear. Good choice on the aperature and shutter speed.
DIGITAL PROCESSING- You did good in not having any noise from the camera. I might suggest if you have photoshop or another photo editing program and go into the selective color option and if you turn the black channel up to about 80 to 100% and the use the brightness and contrast you can totally get rid of all those bumps and keep the "login" about the same color.
MY OPINION- unique idea for the challenge. It didn't impact me personally that much. I went in and played with the color channels and "legally" edited for this site. If you'd like to see what it looks like just drop me a line. Hope I helped any. |

Subwayby stephanComment by Kavey: Fabulous colours, reflections and movement. The light is just wonderful. I like the composition too with the vertical at the left to balance the converging horizontal lines of train and platform.
Personally I'd crop a little off the top.

Subwayby stephanComment by Marklane: This was my second choice of location for this challenge but I don't think I'd have managed a great shot like this! Well done! |

Subwayby stephanComment by nds: I really like the composition and the colours here. The "fixed" vertical lines of the inquiry kiosk are working great together with the well selected motion blur level of the train. But there's room for improvement too. IMHO a greater DOF wold make this shot better and clearer. I'd like to see the lamps and the paving tiles in a sharper focus. Did you used a tripod? The silhouette of a person, lazily leaned against the kiosk or waitig for the train on the track, would add the WOW. Nevertheless good luck for the challenge! (8) |
