Silent Striderby stephanComment by ChrisW123: That's really cool.. but again... the picture is tilted to the right. With such a cool shot didn't you notice this while you were editing it? Still give you a 7 however because it's great. |

Silent Striderby stephanComment by marco: Waaa! Such a nice image, but such a pity the quality had to suffer (from sharpening?). Still: 7 |

Silent Striderby stephanComment by e301: I'd be intrigues to know how you've got this quality into this shot - it almost looks painted! great work - for me, perhaps a little more contrast overall would have aded mystery even more. Is it a very dark shot that's been lightened hugely? |

Implosionby stephanComment by Kavey: Critique Club
Initial thoughts
High impact with obvious emotional message.
Composition/ Content
I like the composition of this image â the balance of the âimplosionâ with the leaning man and the grassy earth is strong.
The stance of the man is highly emotive â he looks drained, tired, sad, despairing.
The âwhiteâ highlights in what is otherwise a silhouette are also interesting as are the âwhiteâ plants.
Background
If one takes the âimplosionâ as the background â I like it â great shape and the texture is kind of like paint brush strokes.
Camera Work - Technical
Hard to tell.
Digital Processing - Technical
I am really no expert on this style of post-processing so I donât know how to comment. Given that the image is high impact and emotive Iâd hazard that the processing has achieved what you intended.
Fits The Challenge
Yes.
My Opinion On The Photo
I like it and find it interesting but wouldnât personally want it on my wall/ in my house.

Implosionby stephanComment by stephan: I was very surprised to see how the score had risen during the week. Never expected such a high score for this kind of photo. So I'm very happy, especially because many said that even they normally don't like this kind of digitally manipulated images, they think it works well for this theme. But beware, this only encourages me to refine my skills in digital work ;)
See the "Photographer's Comments" for a description how I did the effect. It was not done with an infrared filter as some suspected, I don't own one (yet!). The "trick" is the colour inversion.
Thanks to all for your feedback. Very appreciated!
