Nice job. I'm seeing it a *bit* to bright, but that could be a monitor difference thing. I would have liked to have seen more of the lake too, by putting the camera up a couple of inches.

Good framing. I like the textures in the wood very much. The scene beyond the fence seems kind of dull though.

Neon Reflections

Hi!
My biggest problem with voting on the neon challenge was the lack of variety. It got a bit boring to see so many pictures of the same thing. This photo isn't bad per say, but it doesn't have anything to set it apart from the others. The reflections in the water are pretty and do make me want to find out what's making them, but the main subject just isn't interesting. I'm looking closely trying to figure out what made you want to take this picture.
Technically, exposure is good for a night shot. Focus is good although the subject is really too far away for it to matter much.
I'm not really sure how to improve the shot and give it more "wow". I'd focus more on the roof shapes and lights maybe by doing a sort of abstract shot, but most voters have a love/hate relationship with abstract so it probably wouldn't score better. Maybe taking it earlier in the evening would give the sky some color and help the buildings to stand out so that the overall picture isn't so dark. Overall, average subject that was shot well but doesn't hold the viewer's interest.

Doesn't really work for me. Feels quite haphazzard/ last minute. The apparent on camera flash or front lighting doesn't lend itself to appealingly lit results. Low score.

Good pose and concept. The flash lighting and the resulting red-eye and flat detail make it look rather like a snapshot. Also, I would prefer that his feet weren't cut off.

While this is a great photo, I don't think a fire is a good representation of hope. 7

The title adds the 'hope' element to the picture, which in itself is sad...a paradise burning away.
