Nice Pairby DonCComment by whagerbaumer: These are lovely blossoms. We call this pineapple guava. We have three trees in our back yard. I am afraid though that there is not a lot of depth of field in this picture. |

Nice Pairby DonCComment by ChrisW123: Opps this is SHALLOW depth of field. LOL, this challenge is for deeeeep dof. Live and learn. Don't forget to use Levels to correct your colors. And Curves (or levels) to get more contrast. |

Nice Pairby DonCComment by melismatica: This is using shallow depth of field--the background is blurred. Deep DOF is when everything is in focus to infinity. As a macro it is decent. The background could be blurred quite a bit more. Perhaps a vertical composition or a square crop would have suited the subject better? |

Nice Pairby DonCComment by jbeazell: Macro shots are very difficult to obtain Deep depth of field. This would have benefitted from a smaller (higher numbered) Apature. Even some of the 'bulbs' in the floweres indicate how shallow the depth of field really is. |

Nice Pairby DonCComment by Nusbaum: Nice photograph, but I have a few thoughts:
The lightly colored flowers would stand out more against a dark background, probably leaves in this situation. The highlights to the left of the flowers actually pull the viewer attention away.
I think this is an example of shallow depth of field becaue the leaves are clearly out of focus. |
