The stark white background along with the barren trees in the background really adds to the imagery that you wish to portray here: a cold, stark, and empty world. The statue carries another figure and on the face we can clearly see the anguish crafted into it's face. All elements combine to make us 'see' a little of the pain and suffering that occured during Ireland's Great Potato Famine.

This is a cool picture. I like the color and the action. It bothers me some that her stocking is so wrinkled and I feel that a little more skirt might have helped the legs seem longer. But it's still a really good capture. Nice work.

The contrast is pretty good although parts of the wall do have similar tonal qualities, and I keep thinking that the photographer has been "skewered" by the railing.

The picture needs more highlights for a stronger composition. I liked the stairs pretty well, and the person is pretty contrasty, but the wall is too flat. Maybe a crop of the area around the person with some of the stairs in the image.
