Comment by streetpigeon:
If at first this image seems top-heavy, the arc of barbed wire lifts the wood to make it seem like a fanciful dirigible. Helium, please.

I'd have been pleased if this were my entry, especially spotlighting the birdlike barbs. Delicious irony.

I very nearly entered this one. Maybe I should have.

of course there are many many images of this ilk but I like how this one is executed. I like how you can see a frond behind it but it is out of focus and the front frond stands out sharply. I like the little white dots, the highlights, and the way some blades give up and curve at the end.

Curtains are always tantalizing, as can be someone peeking out from behind a fan. The murky frond in the background is the watcher, a subtle cross hatching endowing the image with visual and emotional depth. So satisfying. But there's more! You've also involved us in a beautiful study of shapely and toned lines, as they welcome the light. I love how the composition is balanced by its opposite corners, background frond and triangle of vertical leaflets. The sepia presentation enhances the visual revelation of black and white with breathing, organic brown.
Thank you.

Nice, though for me this treatment might have worked better with something a bit more retro. Personal preference is all that is. I do like the wideangle perspective. That work nicely for this.
