Los Angeles Wedding Reception Dancing Motherby pramComment by pram: this was actually my first opportunity to shoot "action" shot. i spend most of the evening excperimenting with various settings and ultimately found this slow shutter speed with a flash the most interesting. i feel it begins to communicate the context and vibe of what was happening. in this shot, women in the black dress is the focal point, while the dress with on the right side is interesting in how light is playing wiht the fabric. in terms of the orange cast, i like it.
thanks theo |

Mokie and Kirstyby pramComment by pram: thanks! the background blowout is due to the fact that there is a lamp just above the back girl's head. the foreground lighting was provided through a window. no flash. |

Shay Bambooby pramComment by pram: I NEVER use Photoshop filters, however will use the shadows/highlights tool. In this photo, I have used neither - all done in-camera. see, for me, i like the shadows like this, it leaves some detail and information in the shadows. the forehead highlight is obviously a bit on the blown out side...
thanks for the input indeed :) Message edited by author 2004-05-08 10:08:15. |

Mokie and Kirstyby pramComment by theodor38: see.. this is what i call a great portrait.. i always tell people to use high contrast.. but that is just how i like it and ultimately it is a personal preference.. this is really good stuff.. i like the expression and the angle of the view and the composition... some areas are a little overexposed but nothing that disturbs the image i think... |

Moss growing on crypt in cemetery.by pramComment by theodor38: nice and shallow DOF.. that is how Dof was meant to be:) but jokes aside.. it is a colorfull photo.. but try posting bigger versions of your image.. more detail can be seen that way...i really like this one.. |

Grindlewald Deep Snowby pramComment by theodor38: very nice... i like the blue color cast... but may be something warmer.. like a red color cast might create contrast...just thinking out loud:) but it is good capture nevertheless.. |

Shay Bambooby pramComment by theodor38: it seemed may be you have used the "shadow/highlights" filter in photoshop... i dont know if you did.. but the shadows dont seem to be dark enough it kinda takes away from the picture.. other than that it is a nice composition... |
