points for meeting the challenge and composition, not so many points for coloring and lighting. you might be able to claim 'this is the best i can do under basic editing rules.' maybe you might try this with different light sources that will allow the colorful box to pop?

In this photo, the background takes away from the photo a lot! The highlight from the light source in the upper left also slightly takes away from the photo! Great subject matter though, good thinking!

What's your subject here? Everything in the photo seems to be fighting for attention. Try it in B&W with a plain back ground and eliminate the glare on the book.

The idea here is interesting, you seem to have over edited a bit, though. The hand is nice and sharp, very good detail, and the pose is a good leader into the center of the frame. The phonebook, unfortunately, is terribly washed out, I wouldn't know what it was without your title. The background is very odd, did you overuse the sharpening tools? There seem to be fuzzy trees with sharp edges, and some of the effect even occurs on the hand. Could also be due to overusing levels. I think you propably have a very strong original, try re-editing to show us that strength.
