Interesting. I know you used the angle you did to show the traffic light. I think a shot taken from directly overhead would show the balls nicely also. 10

Interesting idea. A tighter crop and a a less wrinkled dropcloth might have helped.

where in the name of all that is holy did you find a set of traffic lights? i'm deeply impressed! i'm intrigued to know why you decided to focus the light on pool balls though - i can't help but think an opportunity was slightly missed by not having something longish and metallic. i'm deeply impressed with the set-up though. a bit of even spread with the focus might help (the balls at the front appear fuzzy); as would moving the camera to the right a bit, or using a sheet of glossy white card off camera to the left reflecting the light sources, all so we can see the balls lit up (all we see is the shadows and the light on the sheet). interesting shot that looked quite fun to do. 5.

I'm thinking this might work better with the light or camera at a different angle so that the reflection of the colors on the balls showed up better. Also, lacking in sharpness and detail some of which is likely due to overcompression. Try saving with a higher jpeg quality setting.

I think this is a very persuasive shot to convince someone that nail-biting is an unappealing habit. There are some small details that detract from the photo though - a softer light would mean less reflection on the nail, which I think would help with the detail/contrast on the photo as while. There are some things in the background, those white blotches that detract from the main subject - a more neutral background would have helped. There seems to be a little hair or thread at the top of the finger as well which doesn't seem to need to be there. The textures you captured and colors are great - I like the swollen red parts around the cuticle.
