I've always liked brooding photos, and this one is no different. The drab scene just makes the color all the more remarkable, and I really enjoy that. The clouds/fog also help to close the scene in; very nice.

i do like this shot, but i agree it's a bit dark. on my poor monitor i can barely make out what looks like fog on the left, is it? if it is, i wish i could see it more.

Oh, yes, wonderful, intimate candid. It sure does stir memories. When a couple of girlfriends and I were about that age we compiled a secret dictionary. We wouldn't have wanted that to be photographed. We hid it in an old roll of linoleum behind a shed. My father eventually found it, rather snail eaten, and simply gave it to me and said "is this yours?" I never knew if he read it or not, but I expected a more drastic reaction.

I like the concept of life in this image...the bud taking in it's surroundings, all 360 degrees, buoyed by the needed light. That blur gives it a cozy, but a bit ominous feel, accentuated by off the chart whites. I'm guessing you really like this image in that you presented what you know will not appeal to the masses. Well done.
