This is a horrible yet wonderful shot if ya know what I mean. I love the slanting light, it adds a poignancy to the pic. Well composed too this is one of two "10's" this week for me. Small thing: I'd love it if his face was catching a bit more of the light.

I really don't like the attitude to homelessness and poverty suggested by your title - firstly that it's a lame play on words, and secondly that it suggests the guy is crazy. When I see someone on the streets like that, the only "basket case" I see is a society that allows this to happen. If you think I'm being weird, just read a bit about it. Go and find out how many homeless people are war veterans or have mental illnesses, and wonder why the industrialised world doesn't have systems in place to care for them...

The fact that your photo has such an effect on me shows that it's a good photo. I just wish you could be more neutral with your title and let the viewer decide for themselves how it makes them feel. I'm giving it 9 anyway. (lisae)

Best of the bum shots. Hard to see his face, otherwise terrific. Don't normally like these type shots (life's underbelly), but this is sooo well done I had to grade up.

Definately tells the story, good choice of subject. IMO though, I would have croped tighter to remove destracting elements. Still one ov my top ten picks this week.
