Congrats on your new DPC personal best in this challenge
You say in your bio that you know how to work natural light and this is a fine example of that. As many of your commenters predicted, I think you did suffer at the hand of the measurement sticklers -- when given a change to differentiate one good shot from another... the photo that follows the rules best gets the nod.
That said, you've created a wonderful composition by tieing in elements that pull my eye throught the frame. The white background offers no distraction and ties in the white from the subject's shirt. The red poles tie in with the subject's arms (all twisted about each other) and connect the bold red with softness of the child.
Her not-quite making eye contact with me has the feel of a candid moment -- you've caught a moment of time of joy "unposed" and something that's universal in the story it tells.
