Very nice shot. The DOF makes the people in the background completely unobtrusive, and I just love the expression on the girl's face. The light helps separate her from the background as well. The texture of the hat really makes this photo stand out for me.

This is truly a magnificient scene and tender moment. A slightly closer crop would give a more intimate feeling to the composition. Cropping the left side of your shot closer toward your eyes and cropping up to the right side up your sons shoulder would help to give this feeling.

The catchlight on your sons' eyes really make this a beautiful shot and helps the viewers eye look right at it. Your lighting technique on this shot is extremely well done. The contrast on both side of his face make this shots very interesting and appealing.
