The truth be known; I don't like that effect either. However, you are giving me too much credit for trying to create an emotional reaction. My dirty little secret is that my patio is terribly cracked and this is the only photo that even came out at all. So I tried to clone and blur the patio to disguise it. Here's the original:

I don't like the vignetting/vaselining. It feels like you're trying to force an emotion on me. The composition is great, a nice curvy yin-yang sort of composition. It doesn't need the cloud 9 effect.

funny to see a hint of a landscape in the background. adds a certain grandeur, though man-made elements bring her back down to earth... the natural lighting is very attractive.
