His watchful gaze...by dwterryComment by dwterry: I was trying to think of a creative way for the dominant image to be out of focus while leaving "something of interest" still in focus.
But I think you are right... whatever I decide to put the focus on immediately *becomes* the subject. I don't know how to get around that without making the image more of a "mistake" (i.e. randomly change the focus and see what you get). |

Actually, I think the boy is the main subject--but it may be the issue we have been all running into: the main subject changes with the focus. Did you shoot this the other way as well? I would have liked to see it that way. I think the boy, if not TOO OOF, would have still been the main focus and that might have really been the best example of breaking Rule 2. Nice work. |
