Please, Just This Once?by frychiknComment by beckettboots: A little underexposed but the shot tells a great story - I can see it very clearly. Did you experiment with more extreme angles ... something shot more from a long angle on the table might have been more compelling. |

I'm sorry that you feel this is the wrong place for me, but since I paid I will stay, whether you like it or not. Would you be so kind as to point out to me where in any post I claim my photos are great? My claim is that this photo was better than the votes it received. For what it's worth to you, I have had many people compliment me on my photos as well as constructively criticize them. |

Welcome To Greektownby frychiknComment by frychikn: I'm sorry, but how could somebody give this picture a one or a two? Only two comments, so at least 3 of the one and two votes are un-commented on. As far as the 'stuff' in the background, I live in a big city (Chicago) and Halsted St., where this monument is located, is one of Chicago's busiest streets. Things like traffic lights, street signs, cars, and busses are going to show up in big city photographs. I think the monument in this picture is impressive enough to overcome any background distractions, and I consider the trees an enhancement and not a distraction to the photo. |

Please, Just This Once?by frychiknComment by Tallbloke: Some creative lighting would have helped this and setting up the shot on a croupiers table or adding in a dimly lit smoky gambling den surroundings with cigarette ands and half drunk whiskey glasses etc etc. It's just abit flat and dull as it stands |

Please, Just This Once?by frychiknComment by awpollard: Great choice for a habit. As the picture is I think the lighting could be a little better. To really stress the habit, I may have added the human element by having just the hands of someone holding the fanned cards in from the bottom, to give the sense that someone was looking into the cards. There is a lot of white in this shot, I might have staged this on woodgrained table/desk just to add a little more color. Add a cigar and a few beers (this is a boys in the kitchen setting) and you would have have many habits in one. Good shot though, just seems a little staged without the human element to me. |
