Helloby BradComment by mk: A thing of beauty and yet, so disgusting! I didn't know that the adaptors worked so well. |

Helloby BradComment by Brad: Close-up adaptors are basically nothing more than a maginifying glass in a threaded on filter housing that is a poor man's way around buying an expensive macro lens. *grins*
Take one widely frowned-on "kit" lens, add a $20 magnifying glass on the end of it, set lens to 55mm, manually focus to closest setting, and move in/out to get the focus right. (AF works too, but can hunt around too much for me) and voila !
I do have to say they do give a lot of bang for the buck.
Often sold in sets of varying strengths.

Helloby BradComment by samanwar: Wow, this is incredible, I can't believe you can achieve this result with the kit lens .. What is a closeup adapter anyway? |

I donno, Lesley... You sure this isn't just a ripoff of my rather spectacular (if I do say so) "Outcasts" image? Do you REALLY prefer slapstick to true tragedy? Check it out:
(To anyone who might take this seriously, I'm just pulling Brad's leg. Nice woodie, Brad!)
