The built-in pop-up flash is all I used.
Keep in mind, the front of the lens is about 26-28" away from the bee (300mm Macro mode).

My cat still does this (although my ear lobe is his preferred 'nipple' of choice), and he is 8 years old! He was taken from his mother at three weeks old (had a manky eye and the farmer was going to drown him...); some cats that are taken away too young suck on woollen clothing, which is rather more socially acceptable, I guess.
