Greetings from the Critique Club

This photo has a nice feel, kind of light and airy. Black and white was certainly a good choice here, and the brightness and contrast you've set suit the subject, and help set the overall mood. The vertical format suits the subject. Composition works OK, although cropping off half the sky helps put more attention on the tracks. Technically very well done; sure, the highlights are blown, but that's hard to avoid with the given light.

But there's no real excitement here. It's just another looking down the railroad tracks cliché shot. Making it exciting requires more interesting lighting, a different point of view, some way of emphasizing a particular feature like the dip (besides the title), or something similar.

Well, at least no one harped on you for shooting tracks or accused you of not meeting the challenge! Great depth. Your highlights aren't too bad - I kind of like the way they make the rails seem to glow.

Nice angle but, I think I prefer the rail shots without the road portion ... also the highlights are too blown out

This is pretty cool Jason. I mean how many pictures of 'white' water can we stand to look at by now!!

This one lined up really close to the natural light color, although it appears to have had a warming effect - it looks really good!

Another really nice capture, with the streaming water. It was a really tough day to balance the light, but I think you did a good job, especially considering that this was your first attempt at shooting falls!

This is a really nice composition, but from the strange look of the sky, I have to wonder if your polarizer was a bit off-key - maybe needed a bit more of a turn? But otherwise, it looks great.

I really like this one, the bright green trees & contrast with the cool blue water. Looks like you even caught some splash at the bottom of the falls.
