This is a nice image overall! I love the composition and you certainly met the challenge. I agree that color may have improved this. Another thing is that unfortunately it does seem to me to look a bit like the last-minute thing you said it was. What makes me say this is that the extreme bottom of the subject's nose and around the lips do not look entirely clean or as smooth as the rest of the skin. That's just a thing I notice whenever I see pictures of young children. If this had been advanced editing you would have been just fine in that regard. I kind of like the edge of the face being out of focus because to me it adds to the dreamy, thoughtful feel of the photo.

Shots like this never score as well as they should on DPC. This is a great capture of morning (or early evening) in everyday USA. Almost feels like I'm there, thanks for taking me out of the northeast hard freeze for a moment or two...

I like the bokeh but i'm not sure if the B&W was the right option in this challenge! Showing the color of the eyes of the kid would be great! The left part of his face is kind of OOF but your photo is really good in my opinion!

I like this shot everything is there but it doesn't pop. It may be the toning but imo there isn't enough contrast between foreground and background. Maybe a different aperture setting would have altered the DoF a little to enhance the edge of your subject more.
