The picture itself is pretty good, but whatever effect you put on it is off-putting - the glowing head and chest thing. Nice capture of the eyes, though, they're expressive.

I came back to this one after calibrating my monitor. Its a very nice picture that looks more like classical art work or a nice drawing. Wonderful hue of blue too. An understated picture. Great workmanship.

I don't quite get the newsworthiness of the headline. Has there been a drought? To me, this looks like a entry from someone who was unwilling to stray from the comfort zone of their favorite subject matter and go out and make a journalstic photo. If you were categorizing this for the galleries would you honestly put this in the photojournalism category? It's a lovely photo and I have no problems with it asthetically but it fails to meet the challenge.

Beautiful photo, but the spirit of the picture doesn't really match the spirit of the title. The title is more about excitement and the action of rain. The picture has more of a relaxed feel.
