FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

7/27/2006 Photographer Bob Daveant of North Ridgeville, Ohio, has won First Place for June in the prestigious photography contest sponsored by BetterPhoto.com, the site's founder, Jim Miotke, announced Thursday.

More than 25700 entries were submitted to the online photography contest, which attracted contestants from around the world and featured 10 separate categories.

Daveant's stunning image, "Looking into the Sun", garnered top honors after being submitted in the People category.

The contest is conducted each month. Categories include Nature and Landscapes, Animals, People, Elements of Design, Digital Darkroom, Travel and Place, Flowers, Details and Macro, Special Effects, and Monthly Theme. Judging is performed by a panel of professional photographers.

b/w was the right choice for this simple visual allegory. the prey and predator together, forming a harmonic balance. the cropped cat looks like she's just about to exit the picture, but she also seems to be circling, so one imagines a spiral, a mixing bowl of the elements of the picture. as your title implies, she is shepherding the elements. 9
