Attractionby bobdaveantComment by jonpink: Not a fan of the overly red look - I suggest toning it down just Little with the saturation slider in photoshop. That aside I like the statue you have picked - it gives it a good sense of scale next to the larger one that has faded into the background. |

Attractionby bobdaveantComment by lizzyc3: Even though this isn't a real person i really like it. The colors are amazing and have a real mood and the simplicty of the statue and the dof is awesome. great job |

Attractionby bobdaveantComment by BobsterLobster: Not really sure if I feel comfortable that this shot meets the spirit of this challenge... this would have fitted the 'monuments' challenge. To me, this is a bit of a cop out. |

Attractionby bobdaveantComment by nico_blue: the post processing with the unsharpmask and guassian blur is a bit too quirky in some places, for example the figures left (our right) edges are starting to look like outlines and the blur in the cloth on the bottom left is a bit much considering the leg is in perfect sharpness all the way through right beside it. |

Tough Feet (not just dirty)by bobdaveantComment by Tranquil: Bonjour from the Critique Club
Let me start off with the positives :)
First of all, you got the concept down pat. Great and original idea. You met the challenge perfectly. I personally gave you a six because I was used to seeing plain feet and this even made me laugh because it was a great idea. Awesome kit dude, great costume choice (now I know not to mess with you).
Now the criticism.
First off, I think that the lighting could have been improved. The best light in the photo seems to be about thirty feet behind you. Your whole body, especially your foot (the focal point of the photo) could have been lit up better. So if you are in a situation that is entirely ambient light (I am guessing this was one of those instances) then try to move yourself if possible into the best possible light.
The last thing that I'd like to touch upon relfects what Jason (JPR) commented about on this image. He said that the background was not necessarily appropriate for the mood of the shot. I agree with that but I also do believe part of the reason he even notices that was that the background was a little bit too busy. When I study this image, my eye tends to wander to the grass (which is fine) but then to the trees and the house and my focus is not entirely on the focal point. So what I would suggest is that if you want to include a background subtly then do your best to make it "work" with the concept of your photo. If you cannot find an appropriate background, try finding a make-shift (if you don't already have) studio to work in. Overall as I said, a six from me. An above average score for you.
Keep the originality coming!

Cover the Earthby bobdaveantComment by ximending: Unfortunately this advertisement is so well known that I don't get any emotional response from viewing this photograph. But your composition is good, except for the ceiling. |
