i guess this is another one of those images that contributed to the great 'smoke vs steam' debates. i don't care...this is a great shot. i, for one, truly appreciate it, because i know how hard it is to be there at that time of day, and how easy it is to miss the shot when you get caught up in the beauty of being there. great capture. if you don't mind, after the challenge, could you also put up the original in your portfolio?

This photo meets the challenge and makes a good black and white image. Subjectively, there isn't much here to work with. There isn't a strong storyline or emotive force rising out of the image.

Lots of light on the front of this subject, so I do not think it qualifies for backlighting.
In addition, the light is really hot on the forhead, and creates deep shadows around the eyes. Maybe that is what you were looking for, but I don't care for it.
