The image is dynamic. Great black and white rendition. But - just when you get into the subjects you realize the title is "first and last steps" - and it's a real letdown. Is the owner of the large shoes about to take his last step? If that's what you intended... it works. But I'd prefer something more like "Grandpa helped me tie my laces..." This is one of the very few images where the title had such an impact on me.

The title is uneccessary and leaves the impression that the owner of the adult sized boots is dead.
It's a reasonably pleasing still life but it doesn't move me. I usually like contrast but there is a bit too much here and too much loss of detail.
