Wow, this is a lovely image! I love how it is both backlit and front lit in different places. More black? Perhaps, but I think it is well balanced and doesn't need the negative space for interesting, balance, or anything else.

I really like this shot a lot. The colors and focus are simply stunning. I think maybe a little more black on the ride side will help the balance a little bit. For some reason, the overexposure really hits well with me. I think it is because it gives more range in the color yellow, going from dark to light (nearly white). It adds nice contrast. Very nicely done!

For your first, you did an excellent job. I take pictures of flowers every day and rarely do I get something as nice as this. Your color and composition are beautiful. Your DOF is perfect and overall feel is very very nice. The only thing I'd change is the pink distraction to the left and show a tiny bit more of the main flower's stem.
