An appealing image that contributes to the challenge
This is a great idea Gin Tay. I like your creative approach with your everyday lipstick cleverly combined seamlessly with the lipstick in a very convincing way, it works well. The lighting and background show it off to full advantage, its all been very well executed, well done. |

An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge
Congratulations Gin Tay on your commendable score and placing. This is a lovely image that fulfils the challenge brief very well. The simplicity, the diagonals, the lighting they all make a major contribution to create a very effective pattern image that has impact. |

An exciting and intriguing image that contributes well to the free study challenge
Please tell us more Gin Tay, how have you done this? I’m really pleased that you are pushing your boundaries to explore and create such dynamic images as you are here. I love the bold colours, reflections, the softness of the motion blur in contrast to the sharp detail of the inner spheres, its a lovely very effective combination. Well done Gin Tay, keep clear of that comfort zoneâ€Â¦! |
Thank you for your comments & your interest.
Here is my preparation for this shot.
Setup:
Place the crystal ball on a black acrylic sheet. Using LED light partially wrapped with red cellophane paper (low cost). You just need to dance the LED light behind the crystal ball. Any movement will create a different effect.
The camera setting as already shown in DPC exif data.
Hope you'll enjoy the fun.
By the way, how can I address you, Sir.
Thank you Sid and/or Thank you Smallman

Myths, Legends and Fables - The Ten Sunsby gintayComment by gintay: Originally posted by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge
Thank goodness for Hou Yi! A very striking image with an animated character of bright vibrant colours, it is not easily ignored! Ican imagine it tells the fable to those already familiar with it and with your explanation to those not familiar with such as I. I think I understand why you have chosen to include the structure but I rather wish the sun was on its own. But overall Gin Tay your image has impact, well done. |
Thank you for your pointers. Well received.
When I saw my score plunging, I already knew that Chinese "Myth & Legends" are not popular with DPC members.
My feel, is that, DPC members should try to browse through other images which may not make it to the top, but to go through the story behind each image submitted. |
