radome by FrooberComment by Froober: Thanks for all the great comments...and scores :P. I have to admit this was a really poor shot prior to edits. I'm shocked that it did so well relative to the competition. Anyway, for those of you who wondered how this was done, here's my little how-to. Take an outdoor shot with your wb set for incandescent lighting and your exposure compensation down a few stops from where it should be....should yield a totally unappealing, off-colored, underexposed picture. Then hit auto levels in photoshop and mess with the curves enough to bring out a ton of grain and deepen the blues. Most importantly, run it through neat image using the default settings to eliminate the grain and produce that extra-surreal look. Finally, sharpen the image 'gently' (as a little elf would advise me) in photoshop and save for web. Maybe someday I'll possess enough skill and presence of mind to take a photo that doesn't need that much work...lol. Thanks again all! |

radome by FrooberComment by Gekker: wonderful sky. i wish that the foreground was'nt so dark. I like how the orb is shadowed on the underside though. Maybe a different crop? Get rid of some of the brush that way? |
