Regretfully, He'll Never Be Seven Againby Dr.ConfuserComment by drewmedia: I love some sharp DOF, but this seems overly sharp to me, and it looks like you manually blurred to make that happen. The people no longer look like they belong on the scene. At least one suggestion to improve this would be to make the ground in focus at people's distance, because it physically doesn't make sense otherwise. |

Regretfully, He'll Never Be Seven Againby Dr.ConfuserComment by Arcanist: Too many competing subjects in this one. The title leads me to the child and the curiosity in the miniature town and the leading lines of the rail show that you worked to find something that added to the family.
Unfortunately, the children and mother are somewhat out of focus and the other couple are so sharp as to almost be 3D. This detracts again from the subject, however cropping the couple out would have been next to impossible withou causing much more distraction. A good start with some very positive points, but too many distractions to reach a high level. Bumping from 4 to 5, because of the insanely 3D effect on the unintended couple and effort taken to find an interesting angle/framing that would add to the composition. |

Fallen but Redeemedby Dr.ConfuserComment by Stagolee: Greetings from the Critique Club,
What a high impact image you have created here. And certainly fits the challenge well.
First impression comes from the red background that works well to highlight the green foliage and to give the image that extra punch, good choice. The composition is good with excellent camera angle I would have only adjusted that slightly by turning the dish clockwise a tad to give more impact by viewing the dish through the lens more (does that make sense?).
I like the lighting it is good but you could have added some more from left front to shed a bit more light on the broken lens. I also feel that the soil/media and the writing on the lens could have been a little sharper for a better image.
There is nothing like seeing a broken lens to invoke feelings amongst photographers so you were on a real winner to start with and with a few minor adjustments I think you would have had a ribbon.
Congratulations on a very good image and good luck in future challenges.
Kind Regards
Tim Sturt
