Spider Rollby scalvertComment by scalvert: Y'know, I'm a little surprised this placed as well as it did. The mass of "stuff" in the center of the image is just too busy for my taste, but that's what I get for waiting until the last minute. I'll bet a single roll (with lots of legs) held between the chopsticks would have worked much better. I also blew the contrast (as crabappl3 correctly pointed out) by not viewing the entry on a CRT- the background is totally black on a good LCD monitor. Still, I'm doing a major happy dance for finally reaching my goal of 6 for a profile average. Woohoo! :-D
FWIW- Like many spiders, I did eat my subject after the fun was over. Message edited by author 2004-10-06 00:55:27. |

Unwelcome Encounterby scalvertComment by Cantique: Yeeps! Went to Alaska this summer and fortunately did not see this view of a bear. They are formidable animals. Love his expression. Suggestion - crop tighter on the left. I don't think the background adds to this. A closer crop makes him even more "in your face." |

Shadowboxerby scalvertComment by photom: Unusual, but an interesting technique. Trying to figure out the water drops with not much luck. There seems to be an over abundance of gray tones without any pure whites. Motion blur adds intensity. NIce job. |

Shadowboxerby scalvertComment by colda: nice shot, brilliant idea, the banding on the background gradient from the jpeg compression is a little distracting though |
