Out of the Shadowsby scalvertComment by jomari: Congratulations on the HM, Shannon. Fabulous shot and creative presentation (which I'm pleasantly surprised to find is legal). |

Out of the Shadowsby scalvertComment by scalvert: That was DQ'd for a vignette in Basic, not a border (it would have been fine in Advanced). "Creating things that weren't in the original capture" applies to the image area, not the border, since obviously the border itself wasn't in the original capture. I already posted an example of a validated breakout border that ribboned in Advanced. It's legal, end of story. |

You're wrong on both counts. Borders generally fall outside of the normal editing rules (you can't otherwise make selections in Basic, for example) as long as the frame is distinct and goes around the outside, and no text, clip art or other photographs were added. If "background removal" applied to borders, then EVERY border would be illegal, and breakout borders have been validated multiple times outside of Expert editing, including this one. |
I could show you many "borders" that were DQed including this one to show you that Borders do infact fall inside the normal editing rules. That is a faded border that was De'd and there are many others that have been for "creating things that weren't in the original capture" |
