Curlyby scalvertComment by KarenNfld: Really cool....the colours, the composition and the creature! We don't have those in Newfoundland. Is it a salamander? |

Eggosaurusby scalvertComment by glad2badad: I think it's the nature of this bird, but the head doesn't look that sharp, and seems close (if not there) to being a little overexposed. Overall, has a "snapshot" feel to it. Fun shot to show the kids, but not a challenge contender (at least not for wildlife) IMO. |

Curlyby scalvertComment by glad2badad: Uh-oh. This one tops the otter one IMO for the specified challenge. The otter is a nice shot, but I'd suspect many thought it was a zoo shot. This, while technically a possible "captive" shot, shouts out as a wonderful, colorful image that is more likely "wild".
Very nice capture here Shannon. |

Xrayby scalvertComment by glad2badad: If the newt was in full silhouette, maybe...I like how the softbox made the leaf texture really stand out. |

Maned Wolfby scalvertComment by glad2badad: Very nice detail in this photo - no surprise there. :-)
I thought this was a fox?
As for this image as an entry, vs the otter, the otter was a better choice IMO. The thing holding it back some for me is the ears. The animal seems to be watching one thing and listening to another. If the ears were forward at attention this photo would take on a different feel.
Just some observations. :-) |

Curlyby scalvertComment by bassbone: Excellent stuff Shannon - I tried to get a few of these little guys to behave for me for the challenge, but I just couldn't quite get a capture to this level. Really nice work...as usual. |

Curlyby scalvertComment by MaryO: Have to say I really like the colors and patterns in this one. That curlicue tail and racing stripes are very cool. |
