Uninvitedby sherComment by kiwiness: Very clever! You have a very good imagination, someting I lack completely! Very crisp and saturated colors. The composition is excellent. A very tight crop but it does work here. Just a tad too much glare from the lighting/flash on the tops of the candy. Be proud! |

Louise's Roseby sherComment by RiderGal: Critique Club
BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely love this photo... nice job Sher, I think it should have scored much higher.
Positives - As a photo, this is absolutely beautiful... nice job with the soft focus and good cropping (I personally think) I like how the green offsets the pink, and I don't think it would have fit the challenge if it wasn't for that. I know some people counted down because it wasn't extremely bright and or saturated, but I think it fit the challenge perfectly..,. hey there are colors there, and beautiful ones at that! Great lighting and use of DOF. I really think this is just extremely well done!
Negatives - I'm not crazy about the border, but thats just a personal thing... The brown streak in the bottom left hand corner (prolly a leaf) is somewhat distracting and detracts from the beauty. Some of the extra little brownish green things coming in on the left are a little distracting. These are all very nitpicky things though...
Overall I think you did a wonderful job! Keep up the good work, I think this photo is truly beautiful (frame it and hang it on the wall! ;-) ) Cheers!

Pizza Piby sherComment by floyd: Greetings from the Critique Club
My first impression of your picture is that you probably spent longer setting up your props than you did setting up your shot. And this was a really GREAT prop - well done for that, it must have taken a lot of effort.
Your concept for this picture fits the challenge very nicely on two counts - the pi shape and the pizza pie - so well done on meeting the challenge. The arrangement and lighting is a little conventional. I think this could have been made more dramatic by shooting at a lower angle and being bolder with your use of lights. You might also have used a shiny metal tray as a backdrop instead of that brown cloth - a reflective metal surface would have made a nice contrast to the organic looking food.
Your focus looks good and the exposure is fine. More light in the scene would have given your exposure more interest but the biggest culprit isnt the lack of light it's the dark background. Your composition is good and the border lifts the picture a little.
Overall - I think you set out with a very strong idea of what subject you wanted to shoot but you let yourself get distracted into making that before you'd really thought about how you were going to shoot it. |

Uninvitedby sherComment by inspzil: A little overexposed for my personal tastes. THe yellows are just a little too bright. The color of the red is good now. I wonder if the red would stay the same or even close if the exposure of the whole pic was turned down a bit. |
