Summer Lovin', Had Me A Blast!by sherComment by e301: Composition of this kind of shot is so tricky, and I'm not wholly convinced you've got it exactly: having looked at it a while, I wonder if the two focal points of the car - the fuel cap and the name badge, are perhaps unbalanced within the frame: perhaps using those as the twin focal points of the image would give a happier mix of car and sky - this way, I feel, its too even a division, not asking us to consider one or the other primarily, and thus leading to a divided sense of subject. 6 |

Summer Lovin', Had Me A Blast!by sherComment by redmoon: weird, i live in the next town to belvedere... i really love this shot - the colours are particularly nice, in a pastel florida kind of way, really. the only thing i'm not in love with is the slightly open filler cap, but that aside, it's perfect. the profile of the wing is super, the fact that there is only sky in the background suggests this is a well thought out / considered / planned shot... a definite favourite - 10. |

When The Wind Blowsby sherComment by Azrifel: Sorry Sher, I scored this a five. I didn't get the 'waiting', therefore was searching for the main element and because I couldn't find it I didn't like the composition.
Now that I come back to look at how you did in the latest challenges I see a spider and its web. Now I wonder if the photo is about the spider or about the seed. Is the seed waiting to fall (or is the photographer waiting for it to fall) or is the spider waiting for a prey?
In any case I'd think I'd like it more when you had used more of the frame. When I draw a diagonal from the topleft to bottomright there is very little in the left side of that. Tilting the camera a bit up and slightly to the right might have worked. But perhaps the background would suck that way.
The exposure, B&W tones are great! Did you use the R25 filter for this one? |

When The Wind Blowsby sherComment by blemt: Eight 1s???! No way. This is a very solid black and white image that manages to convay a sense of waiting to anyone who's ever waited for the last seed on a dandilion to fall. The minor distraction for me appears to be cobwebs? They don't add to the image, and the lines they create take my eyes away from the image focal point. Also, one of the background twigs/flowers is still too strong even with the shallow DOF. That was the only two things that kept this from being a 9. 8 |
