King of the Cornby Judith PolakoffComment by Judith Polakoff: I just wanted to thank everyone for the very nice comments on this photo. I̢۪ve posted some outtakes for anyone interested in seeing more pictures of this little guy.
To answer some questions: I used the Tamron 75-300mm 4-5.6 telephoto lens. All the chipmunk shots were taken through my kitchen window and were reasonably sharp, but I was able to sharpen the scaled-down versions considerably in post-processing. The reason the background is so nicely blurred is because the only thing behind the chipmunk is a stand of trees way off in the distance, not close enough to focus on.
