Needles,syringes, and empty prescription bottles withNew York addresses washed upon the shore (31).New Jersey beaches closed several times last sea-son due to such incidents. More recently, on July6-7, 1988, 10 miles of Long Island beaches closedwhen medical wastes washed ashore. Through-out the summer of 1988, beaches from Maineto the Gulf of Mexico, along the Great Lakes,and elsewhere in the Nation experienced washupsof medical wastes. |
