I see only six of them... You should have chosen a square crop.

This is the 157th image I viewed in this challenge. It is the first one, which caused me to spend a while looking, pondering, thinking, considering...

how a thing so apparently plain can stir things up. The photo, IMO, is an amusing and delightful commotion. The prospects of finding the undepicted seventh side of the wall within the visual confines of the picture are challenging indeed. Since there is little else in the way of an obvious subject to be had from it, the stimulus is real and effective.

The artless manner of the photograph and the lack of discernible evidence of post-processing is stark when compared to the considerable complexities posed by composing it. While the choice to centre the corner has resulted in an effective dynamic, the tonal balance over the full dimension of the picture, IMO, could be -and, for a photo which comes with such high demands, should be- better.

Since darker areas weigh more heavily within a composition, the lighter areas could be more expansive, which inevitably would make for an assymmetric composition. An assymetric composition, however, would also likely accrue the potential for a more abstracted order. This, to my sense of it, would be beneficial for the conceptual appreciation I derived from it.

I value this photograph for the uniqueness of the genre it represents and for the noetic adventure it invites. > 7

Weird abstract. Reminds me of one of those intersection with 7 streets intersecting in an accident trap. Nice capture of light, shadow and wall texture.

Again, another thank you to all of you that have replied since the challenge. Even if only one person understood what I was attempting to do, that would be enough for me to know I was on the right track. I appreciate all of your inputs, and would even say to those that wanted to do a daring picture to do it. This site is not only about ribbons, but about growing as a photographer to meet challenges by using your imagination, talent, and eye for several situations...Dare to be different crowd!

Thank you all!!

I don't think the focus is on the belt... so small hard to see really.

Well you are right art is not only about showing what people like. Don't worry recently I read about a photographer that showed gays in his shots. This man is a famous approved artist and well people came to see his work, but many didn't like it. The fact remains they did come to watch. Afterwards the authority banned his work in this gallery - not exactely sure what the story really was but the trick is to do what you want to and don't let other people "bend" you.

I however chose another path :) First I want to get to know the tool "photography" so that one day I will be well equiped to show what I want no show :)

Cheers. Good work.

I love your atitude. I wanted to do something simillar but I was not sure if my shot would have been understood. I am not aware of what church problems are there in America or Asia :)

I wanted to show that the church forbids contraception ( is this the word? :P ) The idea was to place a shot of a priest in a frame and a condom leaning over it :). I gave the shot an 8 because I liked the way it was made, but I don't like the connection that the act it depicts is any kind of authority. Not to me. It's brutality and worse. No human should live through something like this.
