The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? Yep. But from a creative, aesthetic standpoint I don't find this shot inspiring.

the composition is forcing my eye up and out to the background ball, and it's not in focus, so the image is failing for me. it needs a more effective composition.

This is a nice shot, no doub; and nicely composed, but for me, it is missing that warm, glowy, "Christmasey" feeling background that seem to come from photos shot either at night or in very low light.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding! Clever execution and overall well composed here.

Suggestion for improvement: the green tree 'branch' is somewhat subdued. A quick hue/saturation adjustment to adjust the saturation of the green channel would give this image more pop and match the excellent saturation in the rest of the photograph.

Overall a very refreshingly creative entry. Well done.

I love this picture! It is so funny. I sat and laughed at it for several minutes because it is so true. I don't have cats but my daughter does and this has happened many times. One time the cat shot out from the center of the tree. Well done!
