Land, Sea, and Skyby kposeyComment by Malokata: Something about the presentation here is not as effective as it could be. Could've stood to be a bit brighter, especially on the "land" part. |

Land, Sea, and Skyby kposeyComment by Gracious: I like the scene but it's very dark. I had just the opposite problem with a similar picture recently....too bright. |

Land, Sea, and Skyby kposeyComment by inspzil: This pic is underexposed quite a bit. It looks like it might have been a good picture a little more in the daytime. - Inspzil |

Land, Sea, and Skyby kposeyComment by teachme53: I don't know if you could have gotten closer to your subject, but much of the foreground is very distracting to the beauty of this picture. There is also several things on the right which are distracting as well. The lighting could also have been better. I'm sure you were trying to capture the sunset with the masts as your point of interest which is very eye catching and a beautiful sight. Good luck. |

The Yellow Rose of Texasby kposeyComment by BAMartin: Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Normally an off center subject is better, but in this case it seems to work having the rose in the center of the frame.
(2) BACKGROUND I like the use of a shallow depth of field to soften the background which makes the rose really "pop" and stand out. There is just enough detail left in the background so that its obvious that it was taken outside.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition good. I think that the rose bud behind the rose is a little distracting. I wonder if you could have moved your angle a bit to hide it more.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Very vivid and bright colors. I wonder how it might have looked if the photo was cropped into a square.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. I am sure this is a song we all have heard.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very good flower picture. I especially like how crisp and sharp the pedals are. It looks almost as if you could touch them.
