Plain, too centered. May have been better from above rather than so near the base, maye add a bottle of wine behind and slightly to the side of it or some grapes at the base of it.

While interesting textures, the low DOF doesn't appeal to me here. I also wish the rubber subject on the left didn't have a piece missing.

I think it's interesting how the shoelace seems to be "looking" at the camera. I like the colors, and the variety of the textures shown. I think cropping it so the bright right hand corner was cut out would improve overall quality. karmat

This is a nice macro shot but the shallow depth-of-field really hurts this picture. If you have a camera that allows you to change the aperture, a smaller f-stop (f8-f11) would have increased the DOF. If your camera does not have this feature, using more light might force the camera to pick a smaller aperture. This picture does,however, represent a great effort and a good idea for an entry. *4* -balynch
