Brief Winter Thawby KaDiComment by Wink: This is a striking photo, beautifully composed and rendered. You've maintained great warmth despite the ice and blue/grey tones. We used to take our kids to Sapsucker Woods as well, but I don't remember this spot. |

cardinal.jpgby KaDiComment by Wink: You've captured this little red guy well against the grey background and he's nicely sharpened. Makes me miss the cardinals of Maryland. |

MourningDove.jpgby KaDiComment by Wink: The framing of the dove under the branches and against the dark tree is stark and nicely composed. The dof is perfect, artful dodging is well done, and the soft, muted colors are wonderful. Nicely done. |

Brief Winter Thawby KaDiComment by Gallatin: This shot is excellente, simple composition, uncluttered, and dramatic with the reflections. I looked at your best of 2004 and this shot (Brief Winter Thaw) is definately the winner, congratulations...Ciao |

hummer.jpgby KaDiComment by SandyP: This is AMAZING! I've been wanting to capture this type of hummingbird shot forever. ..but by the time I even get the camera focused, and my hand stopped shaking, they are gone. I'm in awe of this kind of perfection in capturing these beautiful little birds!
I just love the black background with just a hint of bokeh!

Open Linesby KaDiComment by Bear_Music: You know, it's unbelievable how anal the voters are sometimes, especially about noise. This image just leapt out of the thumbnails at me, and I wasn't disappointed when I opened it up. The composition is complex and memorable. The disappearing birds-in-flight, so precisely limited to the left edge, are fantastic in how they foreshadow/echo at the same time the birds at rest.
And this lovely thing couldn't even score a 5? Even if you ACCEPT that the noise is a flaw, surely the value of the rest of it is manifest and it deserves a 6'ish score? Sigh... |

Free Fallby KaDiComment by Simms: not enough focus on the main subject, although you have quite a nice bokeh BG.. 5 |
