The Kissby LustreComment by glad2badad: I like the idea and concept of this shot. Not sure that you could have changed much (controlling the timing) but I think this would be stronger if the couple were more of a silhouette. As it is the photo begs for fill light or go all the way to silhouette.
Some other compositional observations;
1) A more face-to-face shot might have more impact.
2) Moving the couple off-center would be more dynamic.
3) A tighter or farther out framing could improve this by not having all of them, except their feet, in the photo.
4) The POV presented to the viewer could be more unique, i.e. shooting up or down instead of straight on.
I think this setting and your subject material has a lot of potential. Just need to move away from a snapshot type feel to a more artistic approach IMO.
All of the above is JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

The Kissby LustreComment by annig: I see them rubbin gnoses-not really a kiss...I think this would have had more impact if you had cropped it tighter to the couple the & eliminated a lot of that distracting background-at their feet and in the distance (highway?). |

Pointing to the heavensby LustreComment by jmsetzler: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi sparky_mark :)
The subject you chose for your entry is a good one, but I believe your approach to it could use a little work. The time of day for this particular photo doesn't seem to be a great choice when coupled with the weather. The shadows and highlights are fairly harsh, which is normal for a sunny day. My particular irritation is with the door to the church in the lower left corner. You need to find a way to include that element fully or to remove it completely. I have no idea what the landscape here looks like so I can't suggest any alternative views. This one just doesn't feel comfortable to me.

Pointing to the heavensby LustreComment by munkiboy: i'd like so see more of the foreground but the exposure is good. a little blown on the statue. a slightly wider lens would have nailed this |
