Remenisingby leafComment by ahaze: The crop here feels odd. To me seeing the top of her head and the entire photo on the wall in the back would make this more comfortable and would help me zero in on the wonderful character in her face instead of being distracted. |

original.jpgby leafComment by Jamester: Great photo, but the edited version is much more striking.
Any chance of you letting us know the steps you went though in PS?

Going Upby leafComment by gaurawa: Hello from the critique club :)
Having not much experience with Bokeh, my initial reaction to this shot was, well where is the bokeh, but I tried to go through other entries and I can see what you were trying to do.
I like the mood of this photograph. Loooking at the picture, I think this can have a better impact if you had this done in a 'portrait' layout with more of the stair and less of the man to enhance the feel of 'going up'. The lighting is quiet harsh and the colors do not seem to get along very well IMO. You could possibly benefit if you had both the rails touching the bottom frame.
Overall a very different picture as compared to the rest of the submissions, but it lacks a mass appeal.
If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me
thanks,
Gaurawa

Remenisingby leafComment by KaDi: Lovely portrait of a woman! I feel as though I'm sitting with her conversing. There's just enough of her environment to know she is in her own space--at least it feels that way. The color of her skin is just beautiful--what a wonderfully young old woman! |

Evening Strollby leafComment by graphicfunk: from the critique club:
Allow me to comment on this image outside the constrains of the challenge directions. You have received enough flak. I do it too, that is offer my interpretation knowing in many cases that it will come back to haunt me. A more prominent singular Waldo would have netted you a much higher finish because the quality of the image is above average.
What gives this image its magic is the lilac-lavender ethereal sky versus the super mundane foreground and losing all visibility as it sinks in the first zone. Then this winding road that leads the eyes to the houses. Here a special feeling is invoked due to the cozy like houses as if the viewer lived here or wish to. The lavender is reflected at the upper part of the road and this just adds ambience.
The composition is at its strongest point because you even have branches partly covering the lower road. It is indeed a very good capture and beyond technical and artistic questions. It is a home runof an image.
This is one of those images which I can not improve upon and it must be a beautiful sight to see printed. Make sure that you adhere to challenge descriptions. I will take this advise too.lol |

Remenisingby leafComment by chuck: The lighting on the subject is excellent as is capturing the moment but I find the cropping and the background to be a little less than ideal...I would like to see the entire head and a less distracting background... |

Remenisingby leafComment by joebok: A good portrait - I think a tighter crop on the subject would add some punch. |

Remenisingby leafComment by NinjaMom: I might clone out the partial photo in the background and try it in black and white as well. Has powerful picture potential. (6) |
