Ghostly Hands-Freeby littlegettComment by Qart: Have to be a bit carefull when shooting a pattern such as what's in the hat. Although I'm sure it looks great on some monitors, it can also look overly sharpened as is the case on mine. I've got a very high contrast and very sharp monitor, as do many folks here and it's hard to strike a ballance that will match all conditions.
Might have tried a nore gradual transition between the light and shadow on the hat as well as it drops to almost black very suddenly and can be a bit startling.
Otherwise I like the image and think with a little refinement, it could be quite exceptional... :) |

Ghostly Hands-Freeby littlegettComment by BrennanOB: The angle and strength of the lighting brings up the texture of the hat very well, but a bit of bounce lighting on the otherside of the flash would have given the dark side of the hat a bit more interest, where it fades too much into black and the light punches through to make that interesting pattern.
The hat is the star here, the headset doesn't realy add much or go with this very country/folksy hat, and while the table cloth is beautiful, it seems a bit too soft and delicate for the hard pattens set up in the hat.
The inky shadows on the hat where here ought to be some detail, and the slightly blown highlights on the table cloth make me wonder if you didn't dial up the contrast a bit higher than needed to. |

Buy One Get One Freeby littlegettComment by Nefir: Ha! I'll take two! Great idea, and ver well executed. Love the exotic-looking jars and soul-stealing paraphernalia. Great background too. Well done! |

Uncle Sam's Prescribed Relief!by littlegettComment by SaraR: I was so suprised to see that this photo wasn't in the top ten - never mind so far down the rankings. I was very impressed by it - the texture, graininess and darkness add to the overall sense of sadness, desperation, seediness. I find it powerful, and it certainly had the most profound effect on me of any photo in the challenge. |
